Calvin knows

Please pray.  Many things I do not know much about.  Many questions I struggle with.  Seems often there are more questions than answers.  Realizing I will learn in this life all that's truly important for me to know.  So this is merely not a question, certainly not an answer, simply a request.  Now I know all who read my blogs do not pray.  I know some do not believe a power higher than themselves exists.  So this is not for them.  This is a plea to those who do believe that we are not in control of this fragile ball we call home.  That our destiny did not begin here, nor will it end here.
This is a plea for Calvin, his parents, his siblings and all he has touched in this life and will continue to touch.
Calvin was born November 1993.  Calvin is my nephew.  I feel I know little about Calvin.  I will share only what I know or think I know and hope that I am right.  If I'm wrong, I never mind being corrected.
So here we go.  Calvin was diagnosed just a day or so after his birth with a heart condition that would require a transplant.  It was in his first month of life that he received his heart.  The anti-rejection medication causes cancer.  In order to keep his heart the medication is mandatory.  Calvin is now 18, learning to drive, going to school, being a teenager (with no adverse effects by the way).  Calvin had to undergo surgery for a growth in his throat, week before last.  He has cancer, due to the medication he has taken.  The tumor is wrapped around his vocal cords.  Radiation is the only treatment option.  So he will undergo 16 weeks of radiation beginning next week.  That is the plan.
Calvin knows.  Calvin knows how he thinks and feels.  Calvin knows struggles & illness that I can only begin to imagine.  Please pray for his battle.
My opinion:
After all Calvin has experienced since birth, I would think he should be weak.  But Calvin is strong.  He is quiet, not solemn.  His smile lights up a room.  He is not self-absorbed.  He is not a victim.  If you didn't know what he has been through, you wouldn't know, because he doesn't talk about it.
Calvin is sensitive.  He is a writer of poetry.  He plays guitar.  He is intelligent.  He is deep.  His spirit is gentle.
Charlene, Calvin's mom, is a trooper.  She has traveled many miles since his birth to make sure he received what he needed.  She has paced the floor of Egleston.  She has prayed.  She has quietly awaited reports.  Calvin's strength seems to bleed over to her, so that she can find strength within herself.
So my request is simple, please pray for each of them.
Please pray for the strength Samson.
Please pray for the patience of Job.
Please pray for the wisdom of Solomon.
Please pray for the faith of Abraham, and for the peace of Paul.
Another most important thing I know.  Calvin is loved by all who know him.
So with love and prayers, Calvin knows.
